Strawberry Picking

This past weekend we took our annual trip to the strawberry farm and had a great time picking fresh strawberries. The kids insisted on bringing their beach buckets and were very intent on finding the perfect berries. Everyone, including me, sampled the berries in the field. If you head out to the strawberry fields, be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen since the fields are in the sun. Most farms also request that you leave your dogs at home.

My kids beg me to take them apple picking each fall, but there are no places near us. I keep meaning to take them blueberry picking in the summer, but always seem to forget. Hopefully this will be the summer that we actually make it to a blueberry farm.

Anyone else take their kids to a you-pick it farm?

  1. Another great post! We have great memories of picking berries with our tribe. They get absolutely filthy but love it! Remember to bring loads of water and some snacks, too.

  2. Ooh, that sounds like fun. We pick blueberries at my father-in-laws, but I would love to go strawberry picking. Fun!

  3. Good point about the water Jan. My kids always get very hot cuz the fields are in the son.

I"ve been eating the strawberries that we picked all week. They taste SO much sweeter than store bought ones.
